From the center, we flew to the East, arriving in Enugu, the bureaucratic center of the region. Our hotel was incredibly cheap and generally rundown, easily the worst place we stayed in during our entire tour (in a hotel of 6 floors only 2 floors were habitable and even then, barely so). But after our Abuja experience, we were grateful just to have rooms! Our workshop went smoothly we were pros at this point! Workshop participants (PICTURE 1) came from a wide range of CBOs & NGOs, and included female politicians and student activists. After the workshop, we did some much needed team building. Seated in a listening circle, each person spoke about why she were doing the tour and what she hoped to come away with. This was a perfect opportunity to learn about peoples expectations of KIND and how they were coping with our intense tour schedule. It also allowed KIND team members to acknowledge the contributions that the others were making toward the success of the tour. To close the circle, Yemi taught everyone a beautiful song which we all sang, hugging one another. The time spent together was a wonderful way to get centered. Our touring team was laughing again by the time we gathered at the bus. Ready to start on our journey to Port Harcourt. contact Kind: info@kind.org |
