The first stop on the Western leg was Ibadan, the largest and one of the most vibrant cities in Africa. The city had led many of the progressive movements in Nigeria the independence movement of the 50s, the womens suffrage movement in the 60s and the pro-democracy movement in the 80s and 90s. Our workshop (PICTURE 1) went very well. Although there were very few male participants and no youths, the participants reflected a wide range of CBOs with effective grassroot networks and concrete accomplishments.
