  • 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Posted November 10th 2009

    KIND marks 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence from November 25th – December 10th 2009.

     

    The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender violence campaign uses the 16 days between International Day for the Elimination of violence against women (25 November) and International Human Rights Day (10 December) to reinforce that eliminating all forms of violence against women is a human rights issue and that the act of perpetrating violence against women is a Human Rights violation. The 16 days Campaign brings the human rights framework to the heart of its work and utilizes it to ensure that both state and non-state actors are held accountable for acts of violence against women.

     

    This year’s theme is: COMMIT. ACT. DEMAND: We CAN End Violence Against Women!

  • KUDRA Training of Trainers Posted July 24th 2009

    In October, from the 12th-18th . KIND held a Training of Trainers (TOT) Refresher course for Kudra in Lagos.18 Participants from across Nigeria were trained as facilitators for Kudra leadership programme.

     

    The participants were trained on transformational leadership, sexuality and reproductive health, entrepreneurship and financial management and other life building skills.

  • Make Women Safe Campaign Posted July 14th 2009

    Between March 6th and March 20th, 2008 KIND, with sponsorship from Cordaid, an international NGO based in the Netherlands and in partnership with Project Alert on Violence against Women, Media Concern Initiative for Women and Children, Ajegunle Community Project (ACP) and Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) staged six perfomances of V Monologues: The Nigerian Story, a play inspired by the Vagina Monologues.

  • 13th Anniversary of the death of Kudirat Abiola Posted July 22nd 2009

    This year, KIND joined Campaign For Democracy, Oduua’s People’s Congress (OPC) and the Kudirat Abiola Women’s Forum (KAWOF) to mark the 13th Anniversary of the death of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola who was killed for her fight for democracy on June 4th 1996. The event drew human right activists, journalists, and admirers all over the country to the cenotaph to remember and honor a true democracy icon.
