Young Women Leadership Programme
Kudra Leadership Programme is an expansion of KIND's Young Women Leadership Programme. It is also one of KIND's longest running programmes. A leadership programme for young girls in universities between the ages of 18-30, KUDRA is a derivation of the Arabic word "Qudra" meaning power. It conveys the programmes intention to help restore young women to their full potential by empowering them with information, leadership skills and tools necessary to transform their lives.
Kudra leadership programme is getting stronger and stronger. The Kudra teams were in University of Lagos from the 12th- 16th of January 2009, to train 227 young women against 50 trained in 2008. Patience had this to say, “Every woman needs this leadership training because they are the bedrock of every society”.
In March, 50 young women were trained in Redeemer’s University of Nigeria (RUN) from March 9th-13th , 2009. Damilola one of the participants had this to say, “I really did not know that the programme will be so great, but my mindset changed when I started and I have learnt how to be independent and control my emotions”.
In June, Kudra clubs in the six universities conducted a “Face of Kudra” competition as part of the activities to mark the 13th year memorial of Kudirat Abiola.
KIND team was in Redeemer’s University (RUN) again to train 50 young women from the 22nd -26th of June, 2009.
In October, from the 12th-18th . KIND held a Training of Trainers (TOT) Refresher course for Kudra in Lagos.18 Participants from across Nigeria were trained as facilitators for Kudra leadership programme.Comments from some of the participants,” The programme has made me discover myself, I can now sit down and define my goal, mission and vision”.
“I have learnt a lot about social entrepreneurship”.
